Join Professor Lori Dengler and Amya Miller as they lead a special Bilingual English/Japanese Story Time from The Extraordinary Voyage of Kamome on Wednesday, January 20th at 4pm.
The Extraordinary Voyage of Kamome is the true story of a boat that drifted from Japan to the California coast after the Japanese tsunami of 2013. It’s a feel-good tale of two cultures that formed an unusual relationship after a tragedy struck. Lori Dengler and Amya Miller will also talk about how this can be used as a conversation starter for lower elementary school grades about emergency preparedness.
Copies of the picture book will be available for sale. A signing will follow the reading.
